Greetings Bristles,
This is Toothbrush jesus, the founder and creative director for Afrotense. Last year I started a installation called Love For Sport, which ran the 1st time as a one woman show and the 2nd time as a showcase featuring the one woman show.
Love For Sport will continue to exist in many mediums. One of which will be a blog that lives here on this site. I wanted to start it off with some intentions I wrote for myself the other day. I started this show as a way to process grief from losing my lover, and the former version of myself as an active member of the daying world. Dating sucks, and even after having a baby this year, I am still single and my focus is being reshaped daily. Which is why I made this show, to promote the idea to "Love easy til someone ends the game."
I wrote these to remind myself it's ok to be where and who I am.
Affirmations
I love being a fine ass mama who is actively bouncing back from all that pregnancy and births entails.
I love putting my baby to sleep and taking my oldest to school every morning.
I love basking in my children's greatness and all the excellence they will become.
I love working towards my degree so no one can play with me about the education and actual field experience I have acquired.
I love how I refuse to stay under clouds that don't rain on to me for growth and the awareness that is my conscience.
I love being a multidisciplinary performance artist that is humble and recognized for her craft and contributions to the community.
I love being called on and reengaged by the women whom I inspire that notice when I am down, and in turn inspire me by living their truth.
I. LOVE. ME.
Stay tuned,
tbj
