Hey Bristles,
It's long overdue! Afrotense is hosting our first event of 2026! This is a fundraiser and community building event. I, Jeanelle (Toothbrush jesus), work as an organizing artist and board member at Arkwings Foundation in the Frayser area of Memphis, and I run my production company out of the facility!
Now that we got that out of the way... What is Concast Capers? "Concast Capers" is a psychological comedy-drama series created by Toothbrush jesus exploring themes of celebrity influence, media overconsumption and trash TV propaganda's effects on society. In 2024 Afrotense's comedy improv troupe (Cast Together) started filming original comedy sketches and sharing them to our YouTube channel. This has been such a fun journey, we want to do more with production, experiment with our ever growing collection of scripts, and host more improv comedy shows at Arkwings!
Before we jump back into things as part of my work I wanted to host a fundraiser for our space and production; as well as bringing awareness of what we do out in frayser. Below you will find a link to tickets for our series showings! Hope to see you there!
